Assignment Design for General Education, Webinar Archive | Texas Assessment Collaborative

On Tuesday, March 29, LEAP Texas Assessment Fellows presented a webinar for the Texas Assessment Collaborative inter-institutional assessment project.  The archive of the “Assignment Design for General Education” webinar video and presentation materials is now available.

This webinar discusses considerations when designing assignments to be used for assessing general education outcomes with the LEAP VALUE rubrics.  The first segment centers on written communication and considerations for the Texas Assessment Collaborative project.  The second segment, presented by guest speakers Dr. Jennifer Edwards and Karen Mongo, reviews lessons learned and ideas gleaned through LEAP Texas’ participation in a NILOA Assignment Charrette conducted at the February 2016 AAC&U general education conference.  The final segment presents more general assignment design strategies applicable to other outcomes with an emphasis on adapting existing assignments for use with the VALUE rubrics.

Any institution or faculty working to develop assignments aligned with Texas core objectives and relevant rubrics may have interest in this webinar; the presentation is intended to serve both institutions currently planning for rubric-based assessment of general education outcomes and institutions with mature, fully-scaled rubric-based assessment projects.
