Mark Your Calendar for April Webinars! Texas Assessment Collaborative

The LEAP Texas Assessment Collaborative is presenting two webinars in April.

On Monday, April 11 from 12:00-1:00pm, we will be presenting “Sampling Plans.” The webinar will address sampling considerations relevant to the Texas Assessment Collaborative project, but we will also provide insights relevant to any institution engaging LEAP VALUE-based assessment of general education outcomes. The first segment will focus on a draft sampling plan for the ongoing Texas Assessment Collaborative Project; that draft will describe the parameters for the sample of student work to be submitted to the project by participating institutions. The second and third segments of the webinar will discuss local considerations for sampling by examining the sampling methods used by two LEAP Texas institutions: Stephen F. Austin State University and San Jacinto College. Any institution sampling student work to be assessed against learning outcomes may have interest in this webinar in order to inform local practices regarding sampling methods; institutions participating in the Texas Assessment Collaborative project are encouraged to attend. Participants may join the meeting at that time via https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/558617629 or via phone at (312) 757-3121 (access code: 558-617-629).

On Tuesday, April 26 from 12:00-1:00pm, we will be presenting “IRB or Institutional Approval.” This webinar will discuss issues related to the protection of human participants in research when sampling student course-embedded work in order to assess student attainment of learning outcomes. The first segment of the webinar will provide an overview of federal requirements for the protection of human participants in research and institutional review boards. The second portion of the webinar will address the IRB or Institutional Approval requirements and provide guidance for institutions participating in the Texas Assessment Collaborative project. The final segment will explore IRB-related concerns for local institutions conducting LEAP VALUE-based assessment of general education outcomes and the Texas Core Objectives. Any institution sampling student work to be assessed against learning outcomes may have interest in this webinar in order to inform local practices regarding research compliance issues; institutions participating in the Texas Assessment Collaborative project are encouraged to attend and required to respond to requirements. Participants may join the meeting at that time via https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/256737117 or via phone at (408) 650-3123 (access code: 256-737-117)
